I'm considering upgrading my graphics card and I'm torn between the RTX 3080 (10GB) and the RX 9060 XT (16GB). I primarily game at 1080p with a refresh rate of 144Hz. My current setup includes a Ryzen 7 5700X and 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and I'm looking to replace my GTX 1080 along with my PSU. I found used RTX 3080s for about 390-400 Euros, but I'm worried about the 10GB of VRAM, especially since No Man's Sky tends to max out the 8GB on my 1080. The 9060 XT, while a bit pricier at around 450 Euros, offers more VRAM. Which card do you think would be a better choice? Will the RTX 3080 handle my gaming needs sufficiently, or should I go for the extra VRAM with the RX 9060 XT? I'm open to other recommendations too!

The RTX 3080 is more powerful overall, but the RX 9060 XT offers more VRAM and is likely better for future-proofing. If you’re really concerned about VRAM usage in games like No Man's Sky, the 9060 XT might be the safer bet, especially since VRAM can be critical at higher textures. I personally opted for the 9060 XT and haven't looked back!

That's a good point about future-proofing! But I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes for someone gaming at 1080p. Wouldn't the higher power of the 3080 make a bigger impact overall?
