Hey everyone! I'm using the Cosmic desktop environment on my NixOS setup, and I'm currently working on an application. I'd like to test it on Plasma 6 as well, but I want to avoid logging out of Cosmic, changing the session, and then logging back in just to see my changes. Is there any way to start a Plasma 6 (Wayland) session alongside Cosmic, maybe in a different TTY?

I've had similar experiences! You can run two Wayland sessions side by side without any issues, as long as they're different compositors. Using different user accounts helps prevent any conflicts with files.
Yes, you can definitely have multiple Wayland sessions. I've tested it on both my Intel and AMD machines without any problems. Just remember, it's easier to manage different desktop environments this way instead of switching back and forth through the greeter. Just use another user account to keep everything smooth!
Absolutely! You can run another Wayland session in a different TTY. Just make sure to use a different user account to avoid file lock issues that may occur with the active session.
