Best Intel CPU Upgrade for RTX 5070 Without Bottlenecks?

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded to an RTX 5070, and it plays games beautifully on my 1080p monitor. I'm planning to switch to 1440p soon, but I'm currently experiencing some stuttering due to CPU bottlenecks. I have an Intel i5-12400f, and I believe it's holding back my graphics card. My PSU is 650W and my system consumes about 410W at maximum (without including the CPU), leaving me with roughly 240W of headroom, though I'd like to keep some margin. Since I'm on an LGA1700 socket, I can only look at Intel CPUs. What would be a good upgrade for around $300, or slightly more for a solid option, that will eliminate any CPU bottleneck and let my RTX 5070 shine? My motherboard is an ASUS Prime b760m-k DDR5.

You're really limited to the 14th generation Intel chips. I've seen that the newer lower-tier ones don't have the high failure rates like before, so the i7-14700 series could be a solid option if you're willing to spend a bit more. Just make sure it fits your cooling and PSU requirements!

Thanks for the tip! Is it still risky with high-performance Intel chips, or have they improved their reliability recently?

You might want to consider the Intel i5-14600K or the KF version. They should offer a significant improvement without breaking the bank and are compatible with your setup. Just make sure your cooling is adequate since these CPUs can run a bit hot!

Yeah, I've heard good things about the 14600K's performance. Just keep an eye on the temperatures, especially if you're overclocking!
