I'm currently using Debian 12, and I've run into some issues trying to install MS Office. I've attempted using PlayOnLinux, but it seems outdated and doesn't install properly. I also tried Cassowary, but that hit a snag with some Python plugins and wouldn't connect to the VM via RDP. While I appreciate LibreOffice, I often work with .doc and .docx files that need specific edits or formatting, and the online version of Office feels limited. Is there a newer method or alternative that might work better for running MS Office on Linux? I'm open to using a VM if that's the best route, but I'm curious if there's anything newer or better out there than Cassowary.

If your computer has a Windows license, consider setting up KVM/QEMU with Virt-Manager. You can run a Windows VM using that license. This setup worked well for me on Fedora 42!
You might find that LibreOffice handles .doc and .docx files pretty well! I completed my MBA on Debian using it without any issues.
