Hey everyone! I'm new to Linux and considering making the switch from Windows. I'm curious about which Linux gaming distros are best suited for playing Steam games, particularly multiplayer titles like Helldivers 2, Hearts of Iron 4, and Microsoft Flight Simulator. I'd also love to know about good options for single-player games. Any recommendations?

I've had a fantastic time playing Paradox games on CachyOS. Works smoothly for me, and it's been reliable overall.

Honestly, the specific Linux distro doesn't make a huge difference for gaming. Most games run similarly across different systems. If you really want to check compatibility, ProtonDB is a great resource to see how well your preferred games perform on Linux. Just keep in mind that kernel-level anti-cheat software is often the issue when games don't work on any distro.

Generally, the choice of distribution doesn't impact gaming much. I've put in about 400 hours on Hearts of Iron 4 with no issues on Linux. Helldivers 2 seems to work fine as well. If you're looking for a recommendation, Fedora KDE is awesome for beginners, and I've had a great experience with it!

You can pretty much game on any distro! Cachy, Bazzite, and Nobara are popular mentions, but honestly, I usually stick to vanilla Arch and it runs well for me.

I went with Bazzite, and it’s working fine for me! There’s no wrong choice when it comes to distros, just try a few out and see which one you like the best! You’ll get the hang of it.
