Help with USB Boot Device Failure on My Old Laptop

I'm trying to boot my older laptop from a USB drive, but it's failing. The laptop was working fine a few months ago, but lately, I've been encountering blue screens of death (BSOD). I have a Windows 11 ISO on an external hard drive, but I seem to be missing something to get it to boot properly. Any advice on what I might be doing wrong?

First off, make sure that your USB drive is actually bootable. It sounds like you may just have the ISO file on it without it being correctly set up to boot. You can use a tool like Rufus to create a bootable USB from the ISO. If you've been choosing the ISO file directly from the boot menu, it won't work that way. You'll need to prepare the USB correctly first!

Hey, check your laptop's BIOS settings too. Sometimes the SATA mode might be set to IDE or Legacy instead of AHCI/UEFI. Switching it to UEFI can help, but if the system can't find the drive, there might be something off with the USB setup itself.

When you're trying different boot modes, if you're only given the options for Legacy and UEFI, go with UEFI if the USB drive is prepared correctly. If that doesn't help, try changing it back to Legacy, since some older systems can be finicky with boot options.
