Getting Started with FOG Project on a Home Network

I'm just starting out with the FOG Project and my goal is to create a Linux PC that can store clone images. I'm doing this from my home setup using a Comcast router modem. How can I configure everything correctly without a commercial focus? I really just want to practice and gain experience that I can showcase on my resume.

First off, it's essential to set a static IP on your Linux machine. You’ll need to direct your other devices to this IP. Just make sure Comcast doesn't reset your router in the middle of your deployment—that's a classic sysadmin hurdle! Good luck!

Honestly, I haven't seen FOG being used much in real-world applications lately; cloning systems feels a bit outdated. I suggest looking into Packer for an updated approach.

I actually have FOG set up at work for deploying Windows images, and it works like a charm!

That's cool! But just to clarify, I was talking about deployment through PXE Boot. You can deploy images to machines that way.
