What CPU and Motherboard Should I Upgrade My PC To?

I'm looking to upgrade my PC since it's been a few years, and I've replaced most components. The remaining parts are an i5-9600k processor and a motherboard that lacks support for the newer USB standards. I'd like some help figuring out what CPU and motherboard to go for next. I currently have 32GB of RAM, an M.2 drive for booting, a decent power supply, and an RTX 2060 Super graphics card.

I’d recommend switching to AMD. If you've got 32GB of DDR4 RAM, you’ll just need to get a new AM4 motherboard along with an AM4 CPU. Also, upgrading your GPU would be beneficial. What's your total budget for this upgrade? That can help in planning your build.

Right now, my budget is probably between $400 and $500.

Both your CPU and GPU are getting a bit outdated. It's important to consider what types of games or tasks you're using your PC for, as that will affect your upgrade path. An upgrade might differ based on whether you’re gaming or doing something else.
