Tips for Reducing Costs on My First PC Build

I'm building my first PC and really want some guidance on how to trim down my budget. I'm aiming for a total cost around $800, but my current setup is nudging closer to $1000. I need a system that can handle AAA games at 1080p/1440p, some VR titles, and also PS4 emulation. Here's what I've picked so far:

- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 9600X
- **GPU:** Intel Arc B580 12GB

I plan to use a 2TB external hard drive for storage temporarily until I can upgrade to a faster 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive. The operating system will stay on a SATA SSD I already have.

I've thought about downgrading the storage or RAM to cut costs because of the rising RAM prices, but I'm concerned about losing too much performance. I'm also actively searching for a cheaper used case. I want to stick with an AM5 build and avoid DDR4 RAM to ensure future upgrade options.

Any tips on where I can save some money without sacrificing too much performance?

You might want to consider dropping the 480GB SSD since it might not provide great value. Also, the CPU could be downgraded to the 7600X for just a small price difference, while still maintaining good performance. Switching to a B650E motherboard could save some cash too without losing much reliability. Lastly, upgrading your power supply to 650W instead of 550W could be beneficial for future-proofing your build! Oh, and were you serious about the PS4 emulation? That's something I've been curious about!

I get the idea with the 7600X, but remember that it might offer better architecture benefits with the 9600X, especially if you're paying only a tad more for it. Just something to think about!
