Why Does My Laptop Keep Freezing?

I'm new to Linux and recently got a Thinkpad T14 Gen 6 AMD (14"). I'm using Linux Mint with the Cinnamon desktop environment. Lately, my laptop freezes up; I can still move the cursor, but I can't click on anything, not even to close an application. When it happens, I can't reboot normally and have to power it off manually. I'm looking for guidance on how to troubleshoot this issue, especially since it's a brand new laptop.

Have you checked the Drivers app? Ensuring that the right drivers are installed could solve the freezing problem. It's worth a shot!

Good thought. I will try to check on this.

I've had similar freezing issues with Linux Mint, and for me, it was caused by Firefox. Switched to a Chromium-based browser, and the problem went away completely. You might want to try that to see if it helps!

Thanks - I will look into that.
