Hey everyone! I can't seem to find out how much space I have left on my 224 GB SSD. How much space does the operating system typically take up? I'm not very tech-savvy, and I won't have access to my PC for the next few days, but I need around 150 GB free for a game.

It's hard to say without knowing what you have installed. Different operating systems use different amounts of space - some can take up just 2 GB, while others might need 40 GB or more. I suggest you wait until you can remote into your PC and check it properly.

Got it! I guess I'll check back later. I’m on a standard Windows 10 setup.

A 224 GB SSD won't leave you with enough space for both the OS and a big game like that. After formatting, you'll likely have around 210 GB, and Windows usually takes up around 30-50 GB. Plus, games tend to need extra space while downloading and installing, so keep that in mind!

Sounds like I might need a new SSD then! Thanks for the heads-up.

The operating system will likely take up around 40 GB, so you have to factor in your personal data as well. Honestly, you might be cutting it close, which could lead to performance issues with the game if your SSD is too full.

Just so you know, I have a 240 GB SSD, and after installing Windows 11, I had about 215 GB available before adding anything else. But wow, is there really a game that's 150 GB? If I were you, I’d think about upgrading to at least a 1TB SSD for better space management.

Honestly, just wait until you get home to check your SSD's free space. It’s a simple process, and you don’t want to rush it. If you’re worried about a sale, I’d suggest tracking the game until you can confirm your space.
