Why are used 7800XT graphics cards priced similarly to 6800XT models?

I'm currently in the market for a new GPU and initially considered the 6800XT. However, I noticed that the used 7800XT is available for roughly the same price, both offering 16GB of VRAM. Given that the 7800XT is newer and generally outperforms the 6800XT, I'm curious about why the prices are so similar. Can anyone shed light on this?

I've noticed the 6800XT prices are dropping, possibly because of recent sales. Right now, I've seen 6800XTs around $300 and 7800XTs around $450, but the performance gap might be just 5% at most.

Where are you finding a 6800XT for $300? The lowest I spotted recently was around $360, which isn't too far off from $400. I have seen 7800XTs at around $415, making it just a small increase.

Both cards perform similarly overall, but the 7800XT does have a bit of an edge with some extra features. It's still a better option if you want the latest tech, but you might not feel a huge difference unless you're pushing the limits of gaming.
