Should I Upgrade from AM4 to AM5 for Better Gaming and Streaming?

I'm currently using an AM4 setup with a Ryzen 7 5800x. I record gaming sessions at 1440p while streaming at 1080p, and I'm considering upgrading to AM5. However, that would mean I need to replace my RAM, CPU, and motherboard. My main concern is to avoid losing frames while recording and streaming on a single PC setup. Here's my current build:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 5800x
- **CPU Cooler:** Fractal Design Celsius S24
- **Motherboard:** Gigabyte X570 GAMING X ATX AM4
- **RAM:** ADATA XPG SPECTRIX D60G 16 GB
- **Storage:** Intel 660p 1.02 TB M.2 & Samsung 990 EVO Plus 1 TB M.2
- **Graphics Card:** MSI GAMING TRIO OC GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB
- **Power Supply:** MSI A1000G PCIE5 1000 W

Is it worth the investment to go for AM5, or should I consider other solutions?

Honestly, I’d suggest getting a capture card or even setting up a dual-PC system. You could grab a budget mini PC and a capture card for about the same price as just upgrading to DDR5 RAM! That way, you wouldn’t need to worry about the AM5 platform just yet.

Absolutely! You could still build a decent setup without a huge investment in new components.

Have you thought about using a capture card? From what I hear, it can help lighten the load on your PC while recording. Just a thought!

I did try a capture card, but it surprisingly used more resources than just game capture on OBS. So that didn’t really work out for me.

It really depends on how your games are performing. You might want to check if RAM is the bottleneck before jumping into upgrading your entire setup. More memory could solve your issues without needing to overhaul everything.

Upgrading to AM5 could be a solid move, but keep in mind that RAM prices are pretty high right now, which might make it less worthwhile. If you can live with your current performance without streaming hiccups, maybe hold off until prices drop.

I just bought RAM at the current price, and honestly, it made a big difference for me! Totally worth it!

If you can swing the cost of DDR5, then go for it! But if it’s going to stretch your budget too thin, you might want to reconsider.
