I'm having an issue where my cursor isn't blinking while I type, and it's highlighting the letter to the right in black. I haven't installed any new programs recently—just downloaded some PDFs—and virus scans haven't found anything. This problem just started out of the blue when I turned my laptop on one day. Any tips or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Another thing to check is the 'Insert' key on your keyboard. Press it once and see if that changes your cursor from a block to a vertical line. Test it out in a new document by typing and clicking in the middle of a sentence. Your text should insert correctly without deleting what's already there!
It sounds like you might have accidentally switched your cursor mode. Try opening the start menu, typing 'mouse settings,' and then going to the additional mouse options. In the pointers tab, make sure it's set to the Windows default scheme—that might fix the issue!
If neither of those work, there might be a deeper issue at play. Sometimes external software can mess with your cursor settings. Make sure to double-check for any recent changes or installations (even if they seem minor). If you're still having trouble, a system restore could help revert changes made before the issue started.
