Hey everyone! I'm currently in my second year at IT STEP College and I've been relying on AI to help me with homework and coding problems. I've learned a few programming languages, but I struggle to write complete programs or projects on my own. I know I'm not great at designing algorithms, and when I encounter an issue, I instinctively turn to AI for help. This dependency bothers me a lot, and I'm worried it might hinder my job prospects in the future. I want to improve and learn how to code independently, without depending on AI. What strategies do you have for using AI less? Any guidance would be much appreciated!

It sounds like the key here is to actually stop using AI when you can. Think back to how previous generations learned programming without the internet or AI—there are plenty of resources out there! You might even find that just turning off AI might help you to build confidence in solving problems on your own.
Look, if you want to be better than AI, start by doing the coding yourself. You can search for documentation or ask for help in forums without relying on AI. Try drawing diagrams or writing things out. It's totally okay to struggle; that's part of learning!
That makes sense! I think I need to start practicing more with writing things down.
You can definitely do this! The best way to learn is the same as before: pick up a book, take a class, or watch some YouTube tutorials. Just ensure you're actively working through the exercises and not skipping ahead when you're stuck. It's all about pushing through those tough spots yourself.
Totally true! It's wild to think about how we used to learn without all this tech. I guess it just requires a bit more effort.

Thank you! I’ll really try to give it a go.
