I recently upgraded my CPU from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 9 5950X. Here's my current setup:
- Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120SE
- Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max
- RAM: Patriot Viper 32GB 3600Mhz
- GPU: Nvidia RTX 2060 Super
- Power Supply: 650W Bronze Corsair
I've had this PC for 6 years without any stability issues, but now I'm experiencing a consistent black screen crash when trying to play EA FC 26. The system stays powered on, but everything else shuts down, and I can only turn it off using the PSU power button. Other programs and games run fine, and I've monitored the temps, which are normal, with CPU peaks around 75C. I've updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest version as well. After swapping in the old CPU and reseating the connections and RAM, the issue disappears. It seems like the problem lies with the new CPU or the motherboard. Is there any other troubleshooting I can try, or should I consider a motherboard upgrade?

You could try running 'explorer.exe' through Task Manager to see if it helps with the crash. Also, ensure your power supply has enough wattage and stability for the new CPU, as higher-end CPUs can demand more power. If you've done all that and it still crashes, it could be time to consider a motherboard upgrade.
Are you sure your motherboard supports the Ryzen 9 5950X? B450 boards often need a BIOS update to work correctly with newer CPUs, but even then, some might not handle it well. Also, check if any power connectors are seated properly. If the problem persists, you might be facing compatibility issues, especially if your board doesn't officially support that CPU yet.
