Can I Set Up a Dual-Partition SSD for Windows and Linux?

I recently switched to Linux and love how smooth everything runs! However, there are still some apps I need to run occasionally in Windows, so I currently dual boot using an HDD, which is a hassle. I'm thinking about splitting my second SSD into two partitions: one for Windows (to store the OS and applications) and the other for saving files and possibly installing games. Is this possible? How should I go about doing it?

Yes, you can definitely set up your SSD with multiple partitions for this purpose. Just make sure to back up all your data before resizing any partitions or changing your drive setup, as it can sometimes lead to data loss.

Gotcha! What you're aiming for sounds like this setup:

- Disk 1: Windows OS and boot partition
- Disk 2: Linux boot partition and filesystem
- Disk 2: Additional storage for Windows data

This will work fine, and it's even possible to swap the OS installations between the disks if needed. Just keep in mind that sharing a partition between Windows and Linux can lead to some complications.

I've got a similar setup! I had a drive with Windows, and I noticed a lot of unused space, so I created an EXT4 partition on the remaining space and mounted it in my home directory for use in Linux. It’s been great!
