Is it worth spending a little extra on faster RAM?

I'm trying to decide between two RAM kits for my gaming setup. One is 6000MHz and costs £20 more than the 5600MHz option. I plan to game at 1440p, which I hope makes a difference. What's the impact of the RAM speed on gaming performance? Should I go for the more expensive kit?

Even though the performance differences aren't huge, I say go with the higher speed if it's only £20 more. If it were a £100 difference, I’d choose the cheaper one, but that’s basically the price of a lunch!

Not sure if you can even get a steak and kidney pie for that price anymore!

Just so you know, this same RAM kit was priced at £80 back in September. It's worth considering how prices fluctuate!

If you're using an X3D CPU, it won’t really matter much at all. You might see a 5% difference in average framerate and some lower dips in performance with a standard CPU, but it’s usually not noticeable in actual gameplay. So, I’d say it’s probably not worth it to spend more on faster RAM if that’s your setup.

Yes, for that extra £20 it's a good idea to opt for the 6000MHz RAM. Prices can change, and that little extra now might save you from regrets later on!
