What are the best AM4 CPU upgrade options right now?

I'm looking to upgrade my current setup but I'm limited to the AM4 socket. My existing rig, which features a Ryzen 5 2600x and a 3070, is feeling pretty outdated and is experiencing significant CPU bottlenecking, especially with CPU-intensive games. I had planned to move to AM5, but pricing is currently too high. Are there any solid AM4 processors available that can improve my gaming performance? I had my eye on the AM4 X3D chips, but they seem to be sold out everywhere. What alternatives would you recommend?

The Ryzen 7 5800XT is still a solid choice and can be found for around $200. It's definitely a worthwhile upgrade from your current CPU.

Exactly! The X3D models are hard to find, so the XT is a great next best option.

I just upgraded from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a 5700X, and it's made a huge difference in CPU-heavy games like Dota 2 and WoW. If you're looking at used options, I definitely recommend grabbing a 5600, 5600X, 5700X, or 5800X for the best value.

If you’re open to used options, check local marketplaces for a full PC that includes a 5700X or 5800X. I scored a complete setup for $600, and now I have both a 5800X and 5600 build—huge upgrade for gaming!

You might want to consider other models like the Ryzen 5 5600, 5600X, or 5800X. The Ryzen 7 5700X is particularly great for its price-to-performance ratio. Just be sure to shop around; sometimes you can find the 5800X or other Ryzen 5 models for a similar price as the 5700X.

For the best experience, I'd suggest going for the 5800X or 5800XT, but keep in mind the power consumption is higher with those. If you find the pricing is just a small difference, go with the one that fits your budget best!

You can usually get the 5700X or 5800X3D for about $400 on eBay, which is a solid upgrade over your current setup. Alternatively, a 5600X or 5800XT for around $150 would also boost your performance considerably. Just an FYI, if you do decide to look at AM5, there are some decent combos out there for around $440.
