I'm trying to figure out how to connect an external SSD that only has a USB-C cable to my PC, which only has USB-A ports that vary in speed. After doing some research, I'm finding mixed information about USB-C to USB-A adapters and cables, with some saying they're not reliable. I want to be able to plug in my SSD effortlessly. Could someone clarify if I need an adapter or a different type of cable, and what specifically I should look for? For reference, the fastest USB ports on my PC are the SS (superspeed) ports, and one has a lightning bolt symbol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve had good luck with a USB-C to USB-A converter. It works well for me, but I guess your experience may vary depending on the brand.
If you’re open to it, upgrading to a PCI card with USB-C ports would provide faster transfer speeds since USB-C supports higher speeds. I’ve done this on my desktop Mac, and though it was a bit pricey, it’s totally worth it for speed. But if you don’t want to deal with hardware changes, that’s understandable!
Yeah, I get it. I prefer not to dive into my PC either. Just looking for the simplest solution without modifications.
