What Should I Do About My GPU Situation?

I recently bought an LG 2k, 144hz Ultragear monitor along with a bundle that includes a 7800x3d CPU, a decent motherboard, and 16GB of RAM. I got this setup just before prices started skyrocketing, hoping to pick up a GPU when I'd saved enough. However, now I'm seeing that the 9070 and 5070 Ti are way overpriced in my country. I'm concerned that these prices might not go down for a couple of years. Currently, I'm using an old rig with an i7-6700 and a GTX 1070. Should I sell the CPU, motherboard, and RAM, and wait for better prices? Should I try to get a 9060 and make do, or should I stick with my GTX 1070?

Honestly, GPUs have been pricey for ages now. It feels like a never-ending struggle!

I'd say go for the 5070 if you can find it between $600-$800. The difference in performance compared to the 5070 Ti isn't huge, just around 10%. If you want to start gaming again, it's a solid choice.

The 9060 XT (16GB) could run your desired settings with some upscaling. It's a more budget-friendly option, even if it's not as powerful as the 5070 Ti.

Realistically, the GPU prices probably won't drop until around late 2028. Also, remember that comparing the 9070 and 5070 Ti isn't straightforward; the 5070 Ti will cost you more, so if that's out of budget, you might want to rethink that route.

Don't stress too much; by the time GPU prices drop, we might be facing new tech advancements or significant changes in the market. Maybe keeping an eye on used options for a 4080 or 4070 Ti could work, but it'll take time to find good deals.

If you can, check out the used market for a 7800 XT or a 4070. They perform well and could be more affordable than the latest models.

Unfortunately, there's no market for used parts here, so that's not really an option for me.

Have you considered grabbing a 5060 Ti to hold you over until prices normalize? It's a solid option that might keep you gaming without breaking the bank.

Interesting, I assume going for the 16GB variant would be best? I'm hoping to play games like Metro Exodus, CP2077, Baldur's Gate 3, and Doom: The Dark Ages.
