Hey folks,
I'm a 3D artist who mainly uses Blender for rendering and Grease Pencil, along with Adobe After Effects. I'm considering building a workstation PC, but I'm on a budget. I already have a 32 GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4-3600 kit (2 x 16 GB), and I'm wondering if I should base my whole setup around this RAM. Is it worth going with an older-generation build for my needs? Would love your thoughts on component choices!

Yep, sticking with that RAM is a smart move—it's pretty high-end for DDR4 at 3600 MHz and will pair nicely with an Intel CPU. Honestly, DDR5 is overpriced right now; I think it’s better to wait for DDR6 to come out before upgrading.
You can definitely use that RAM! The Intel 14700k on a DDR4 motherboard is still a solid choice, with plenty of cores for your tasks. For the GPU, look for something like the RTX 5070 Ti or 5080, depending on your budget. Just make sure to pick a Z690 or Z790 motherboard that supports DDR4.
Good tip! Just remember to update the BIOS to the latest version for the best performance.
Absolutely! Recent Intel and AMD generations can still run both DDR4 and DDR5, so you’re in good shape. And hey, I personally want to set up a media server with some DDR4 ECC RDIMMs I have lying around! 😀

Why do you think Intel is such a good match for the RAM? I’m just getting started and trying to learn!
