Help! My PC Won’t Turn On – Any Ideas?

Hey everyone! I'm having a serious issue with my PC. It was working perfectly fine yesterday, but now it won't power on at all. Here's what's going on: there are no fans spinning, no lights on the motherboard, and the Ethernet/LAN light isn't on. The keyboard lights do turn on, and I can hear the physical click of the power button when I press it.

I've already done some troubleshooting: I've removed the GPU, taken out the NVMe SSD, and even tried just using one of the 8GB RAM sticks. I conducted a paperclip test on the PSU, which made the PSU fan spin. I've reseated the cables as well, but I'm still getting no reaction from the system.

Do you think this is more likely a failing PSU under load or could it be a dead motherboard? Also, does the absence of the Ethernet green light indicate anything?

Thanks for your help!

Have you checked if your PSU has a fan? If it does, does it spin when powered on? That could give some clues about what's going on.

Yeah, it has a fan, but it doesn't spin when connected to the motherboard. However, during the paperclip test, the fan turned on along with the case fans.

I had a similar situation once where the CPU had failed. Just throwing that out there as a possibility.

Fingers crossed it's something other than the CPU!

You might want to do a quick test to make sure the power button on your case is still working. Try removing the button wiring from the front panel header and short the button pins with a screwdriver. I had a power button issue in the past; everything else was fine.
