I'm trying to reinstall Windows 11 but keep running into an error that says, "there is an error selecting this partition for install." Do I need to format the drive before I can proceed? For some background, I recently had a Windows update that messed up my USB drivers and caused some issues like my case fans stopping unexpectedly. I've attempted to uninstall the update and disable auto updates, but it keeps reappearing after a restart. I've also tried doing a repair install but that resulted in another error. I figured a clean install would be my best shot, but now I'm stuck on this partition issue.

Just a heads-up, if you delete partitions, ensure you've backed up all important files. You could lose everything if something goes wrong. As for the recovery partition, it's generally safe to delete it if you're okay with not being able to revert back to the previous state easily. Just make sure you've made any necessary backups before you proceed!
If you're using a USB drive for the installation, I recommend deleting all the partitions when you're asked where to install Windows. This will simplify things and let you create one large partition for the installation, which should resolve the error you're seeing.
