I'm putting together my first high-end PC, primarily aimed at using DaVinci Resolve for editing 4K/8K videos with high-bitrate camera files. I also want to enjoy some casual gaming. My goal is to have a quiet setup with no RGB lighting that will last me around five years without needing an upgrade, aside from possibly adding more RAM. Here's what I have in mind for the build:

- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 9 9950x3d
- **GPU**: RTX 5080 Palit GamingPro OC (I figured the OC version is the same price as the standard one)
- **RAM**: 32GB DDR5 6000MHz from Goodram (I want to upgrade soon but don't want to compromise other parts due to RAM costs)
- **PSU**: Dark Power 14 (I'm debating between 1000W and 1200W)
- **CPU Cooler**: Noctua NH-15 G2 (I prefer air cooling instead of AIO)
- **Motherboard**: MSI MAG X870E Tomahawk
- **SSD**: Samsung 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen5 NVMe 9100 PRO
- **Case**: Hyte X50 Air
- **Case Fans**: Noctua NF-S12B Redux-1200 PWM

What do you all think about this setup?

I get that Noctua fans are pricey, but they're top tier for a reason! Their performance in benchmarks speaks volumes, plus they take a less aggressive approach to market growth.

Exactly! They may not be the cheapest, but their quality is hard to beat.

1000W should be more than enough for your build! Sounds like a solid setup overall. Enjoy building it!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it!

Personally, I think Noctua fans are overpriced. If you can find a good deal on the 9800x3d, I’d consider that. It’s similar in performance to the 9950x3d but runs cooler and is more power-efficient.

I’ve heard the 9800x3d might not perform as well with DaVinci, though. I’m mostly focused on that for editing and gaming.
