Hey everyone! I'm considering a GPU upgrade and looking for some advice. Right now, I have an ASRock Taichi RX 7900 XTX, and I'm thinking about selling it to get a PNY OC RTX 5080. I've heard it offers better frame-generation and a slight performance boost. Most of the games I play include Wukong, God of War: Ragnarok, Elden Ring, and CS2, and I usually game at 1440p144. I'm particularly worried about how well Ghost of Yotei will perform when it comes out. I'm aiming to sell my current GPU for around $800-900 and want to spend no more than $400-500 on the 5080. Do these prices look right, and is this upgrade worth it? Would love to hear your thoughts!

I checked out some performance charts, and the 5080 generally seems about 10% faster than the 7900 XTX. I'm not sure if that small bump in performance really justifies the cost for you, though. Sometimes the dollar per FPS ratio doesn't really add up. Might want to consider if that improvement is worth the investment.
Do you even struggle to reach 144 FPS at 1440p with your current GPU? Personally, I don't think the 5080 is a big enough upgrade to justify the cost. You might be better off waiting for the next generation. It could make more sense in the long run.
Totally agree! If you don’t have major performance issues right now, maybe it’s better to sit tight and see what the future holds.

I always feel like waiting for the next gen is a solid plan. I noticed issues in Wukong where frame gen can help hit 120 FPS, but it dips into the high 90s quite often. If DLSS could fix the quality issues, that might make it worth sticking with your current card for now.
