How can I tell if my laptop is hacked, and what should I do?

I'm really concerned that my laptop might be hacked. It suddenly became super slow yesterday, with games crashing and issues opening Steam. Today, I got this notification about my OneDrive account being signed out and needing to update my credentials, which I mistakenly did while also confirming it on my phone. Now, I'm seeing searches in my Windows bar that I didn't make, like 'run a troubleshooter for PC issues.' I was freaking out when I noticed one of them was from an hour ago. I've turned off my Wi-Fi, changed my Outlook password, and removed my laptop from my Outlook devices. What else should I do to secure my laptop? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

First, don’t panic! It’s good that you turned off your Wi-Fi and changed your password. I would suggest updating your OneDrive password next. It’s also a good idea to run a full antivirus scan and consider using Malwarebytes for extra security.

You might want to do a clean reinstall of Windows if things still seem off. It’s definitely a safe route to start fresh and remove any potentially harmful software that might be lurking around.

Make sure to change all your passwords and enable two-factor authentication wherever possible. After that, check for any suspicious activity on your Microsoft account and see if there are any unknown logins or devices connected. Running a full scan with Windows Defender followed by Malwarebytes is also really important. You’ll be okay!

I've noticed even my emoji suggestions are unfamiliar! I'm changing my passwords right now.
