How Can I Check if My GPU is Faulty Without Installing Drivers?

I'm having trouble with my HP 3060 ti graphics card. The display goes black, and my monitor shows no signal, even though I wasn't using any heavy graphics applications at the time. I suspected it might be related to the NVIDIA black screen issue, so I used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in safe mode to remove the drivers and reinstalled them from the NVIDIA site. Unfortunately, the black screen pops up again as soon as the driver is installed. I tried refreshing the driver using Ctrl+Shift+Win+B, but that didn't help. I've also installed three different driver versions, but the same problem persists.

I don't have another computer to test the card in, nor do I have an extra GPU to check in mine. The card seems fine as it doesn't overheat, the fans work, and the lights are on. I even tried reseating the GPU, but it made no difference. Is there anything else I can do to troubleshoot without installing a driver, or should I just assume my GPU is broken?

Looks like you're running into some serious display driver errors. The Event Viewer shows messages like 'Display driver stopped responding' and other power/kernel errors, which might mean the GPU is failing. Keep an eye on those logs!

If you can access the BIOS, then your GPU is likely somewhat functional. I recommend doing a fresh install of Windows since you mentioned being able to get to BIOS.

Make sure you’re using a driver that’s known to work. Download it and DDU, boot into safe mode with the internet unplugged, and completely uninstall your current drivers. Then install the known-good NVIDIA drivers and run a benchmark, like one of the Tomb Raider games or Cyberpunk, to see if the issue persists without causing a black screen or artifacts.

Double-check the basics: Is the cable securely connected to your graphics card? Is the power on for the GPU and monitor? Sometimes it’s the simplest issues that mess things up!

Yes, everything's plugged in and I’ve tried different ports (both DP and HDMI). Even used another monitor and got the same black screen.

You could try disconnecting your storage drives and see if the system can boot to the BIOS. Also, are you sure your CPU lacks integrated graphics? That could help isolate the issue further.

No integrated graphics on my CPU. It does boot to BIOS without any problems and stays stable for at least an hour, but I haven’t let it run longer.
