Should I go with a Ryzen 7 5800XT or stick with the Ryzen 7 5700X for my PC upgrade?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my desktop PC and need some advice. Here's my current setup:
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600
- RAM: 16 GB Corsair DDR4 at 2400MHz
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming 3 Rev 1.0 (fully updated BIOS)
- GPU: Asus Strix GTX 1080
- Storage: 240GB WD Green SATA + 500GB SATA SSD, plus two HDDs (2TB & 1TB)
- PSU: Thermaltake SMART 750W 80 PLUS Bronze
- Case: Corsair Carbide 400C

For my upgrade, I'm planning to add:
- 32GB (2x16) DDR4 3200MHz CL16 RAM
- WD_BLACK 2TB SN7100 NVMe (aware I won't utilize its full speed on my current motherboard, but I want good TBW)
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 cooler

Now, I'm debating between the Ryzen 7 5700X, which has a 65W TDP, or the Ryzen 7 5800XT, which is currently on sale. My concerns are mainly about whether my PSU can handle it and the VRMs on my motherboard. Any thoughts? Thanks! 😀

For a gaming PC, I'd recommend the 5700X3D, but if you're planning to use Blender and other software, the 5700X is great too. Just keep in mind that while the PSU is decent, it’s not top-notch.

Got it! The 5700X3D also seems to be out of my budget, whereas the 5700X and 5800XT are more affordable.

I've upgraded a friend's PC with a 5700X3D on the same motherboard. Just a heads up, the USB 3.0 ports may not work reliably, but the internal ones should be fine. I wouldn't recommend running the 5800X/XT on those VRMs without extra cooling or airflow.

Ugh, I hope my USBs remain intact! Thanks for the warning!

If you can stretch for the 5700X3D, that would be a solid choice! Your 750W PSU should be sufficient for any of these CPUs. It's not the best PSU, but it can handle it fine.

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, the 5700X3D is a bit too pricey for me right now - it’s around $277, while the 5700X is at $128 and the 5800XT is $124.
