What are some alternatives to SSD for extra game storage?

I'm using a great laptop, but I'm running into a storage issue. It's only got about 500 GB, and I've noticed that I can barely keep two games installed at once. With SSD prices being so high, I'm wondering if there are any alternatives that will allow me to store more games without the hassle of constantly deleting and redownloading them. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hard drives are cheaper by about 30%, but they're definitely slower compared to SSDs. For the general games most people play, it's fine, but if you're into those big AAA titles, you might experience some lag. I have a 2TB hard drive I use just for storing games, and it works alright for my needs.

Repeatedly deleting and redownloading games isn’t ideal for SSDs, since it can wear them out faster. If you have another slot on your laptop, that’s the best way to get more storage. You could install games on an external hard drive, but make sure it can handle the data size you need.

It really depends on your laptop’s design. If it has an M.2 slot or a free SATA connection, you might be able to add another SSD or a hard drive. But if you're looking for a cost-effective solution, maybe consider getting a good old hard drive; just check what your laptop supports. As for me, I don’t play games that are over 200GB, so it works fine.

You really have two main choices: a more affordable but slower hard drive, or sticking with an expensive SSD. Just keep in mind, if you're gaming with newer titles that are heavy on graphics, they might not run well off a hard drive. SSDs generally give better performance, especially for those types of games.

Honestly, your options are pretty limited right now. You can either wait for prices to drop, which I don’t think will take long, or pay the higher prices now. Once your SSD starts to fail, the market for replacements will likely flood, so just keep that in mind.
