iPhone 17 Pro Battery Draining Fast and Overheating — Any Fixes?

I recently got an iPhone 17 Pro, and I'm really frustrated because it has this severe battery issue. Just two months in and on the latest iOS 26.3, my phone goes from 100% to just 17% after a night of idle time. It's also overheating, which is worrying. I only surfed Chrome for about 30 minutes, but while my friend's iPhone 15 still sits at 90% after similar usage, mine is clearly malfunctioning. I've already visited the Genius Bar twice. The first time, they suggested I disable background refresh, which didn't help at all. The second time, they ran diagnostics and said the battery's healthy, but that doesn't address the software problems. I'm looking for anyone who might have suggestions on how to tackle this issue because I'm shocked at the lack of support for such an expensive device.

I get that this must be frustrating! It could be a software glitch, so I recommend backing up your important data, then erasing the phone and setting it up as a new device. This way, you'll only install the apps you actually need and not carry over any potential issues.

That's definitely a solid approach! Clearing everything out can really help clear up weird issues.

I think it might just be a software issue. Have you checked if anything specific is running that shouldn't be? Sometimes apps re-uploading large amounts of data can drain the battery. Just a long shot, but are you using any cloud services?

Your friend’s iPhone might not be experiencing the same problem because their usage patterns could vary slightly. Make sure you both check if certain apps are running in the background significantly more on your device.

I had a similar experience with my iPhone 17 Pro. I found out it was one of my email accounts causing the drain, even when set to check for new mail less frequently. I removed my email accounts and re-added them, which surprisingly resolved the battery drain. Maybe try that?

It sounds like your phone's battery is draining due to something using your processor excessively, like a rogue app. Apps like Spotify or Facebook are often the culprits. Plus, poor cell reception can force your phone to work harder, leading to overheating. You might want to try restoring your device and setting it up as new without restoring from a backup, or at least remove apps you rarely use to see if that helps.
