I've been experiencing frustrating random disconnections with my Ethernet connection while using Windows 11 and AT&T's 2GB Fiber. My PC is connected directly to the modem/router via a CAT 6 Ethernet cable, but at unpredictable times throughout the day, my internet drops for about 3 to 5 seconds. This interruption, although brief, really disrupts my online activities like playing games. On some days, everything works fine, but other days, I struggle to browse the internet without interruptions. I've tried several troubleshooting steps, including restarting my modem/router and PC, checking for driver updates, tweaking Ethernet adapter settings, and ensuring physical connections are secure. AT&T claims there's no issue on their end, and the cable seems fine too. This issue has been ongoing for about 4 to 5 months, and I'm running out of ideas. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You should definitely check your Ethernet adapter's power management settings. Go to Device Manager, find your network adapter, right-click and select properties. In the power management tab, make sure to uncheck the option that allows Windows to turn off the device to save power. It's a common issue that causes those random 3-5 second drops, which is what you’re experiencing. Also, double-check that your cable is securely connected on both ends; sometimes, even if the connectors look okay, they might be slightly loose.
If you've already unchecked that option and ensured the connections are tight, consider if the issue might be cable-related. Sometimes, even a small defect can cause intermittent problems. You could try swapping out the Ethernet cable with another one to see if that resolves the issue.
