Is Azure Document Intelligence Reliable for Accurate Data Extraction?

I'm working on a project that requires extracting user data with complete accuracy—no margin for error allowed. I'm considering using Azure Document Intelligence to analyze photos of IDs, bank cards, and other official documents. The images I have will likely vary in quality, angle, and may have minor scuffs. Since my entire production setup is already on Azure, I want to know if this is the best option for me. Additionally, what kind of response times can I expect for processing three images to extract all necessary information? I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions!

There’s no tool that can guarantee 100% accuracy in OCR. Azure Document Intelligence is pretty solid, especially since you're already using Azure for your stack. Just keep in mind that it won't be infallible; you might still see some errors depending on the document quality.

Just make sure that you prioritize security! Handling sensitive data can lead to serious fraud risks if security isn’t top-notch.

Honestly, I can't stand the idea of striving for 100% because nothing is ever flawless. AI and OCR will always have a small margin of error, but they're still way more consistent than humans in most cases.

Perfect accuracy in your field is basically a myth. You won't find any system that guarantees 100% correctness, and that includes human verification. But hey, this is where thorough testing and model adjustments come into play!

True! I understand that it’s impossible to hit absolute perfection. I'm just trying to minimize errors to the lowest possible rate for legal reasons.

One thing to be aware of is that Azure Document Intelligence requires some model training. If your documents vary a lot in format, you might need to invest time in that to improve accuracy.
