Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out if I can use the triple squid 12VHPWR adapter that came with my new RTX 5080, given that I only have two 8-pin PCIe connectors available. Is it safe to run it this way? Also, I noticed that each of my 8-pin connectors has a daisy chain feature—would it be okay if I used one of those daisy plugs for the third socket on the adapter? My power supply is a 2019 Seasonic Focus GX 750W, model SSR-750FX. Any insights would be appreciated!

Generally, you should be careful with running only two 8-pin PCIe connectors on the triple squid adapter for the RTX 5080. Standard PCIe cables are typically rated for 150W, and since this card can draw up to 360W, you could be risking overheating or even damaging your hardware by overloading the daisy chain. It’s recommended to look for a higher wattage PSU, ideally an 850W model, to avoid any power-related issues.

Your motherboard does deliver some power too, especially if it’s a high-end model like the X570 Aorus Master. So it’s a bit tricky. I’d still recommend upgrading to a power supply that can handle the load better, but your setup might hold up if used cautiously.
