Recently, with all the buzz around Microsoft's AI features, I've been feeling uneasy about using Windows. Plus, I really miss the customization options I used to have. I'm a fan of free and open-source software and value privacy a lot!
I'd love some help choosing a Linux distribution that would suit my daily needs. My current setup includes an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, an 8GB NVIDIA graphics card, 1TB of storage, and 64GB of RAM. I frequently use programs like Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Zbrush, Blender, Maya, and Substance Painter, along with doing some spreadsheet and document work. I'm also heavy on gaming through Steam, streaming on YouTube, and listening to music on VLC (I'm a bit of a tab hoarder!).
I took a distro chooser quiz and it recommended openSUSE, Zorin OS, Linux Mint, and elementary OS. I've read some good things about Linux Mint and elementary OS, but I'm curious about Fedora and Bazzite as well. Fedora looks versatile, while Bazzite seems gaming-oriented.

Before settling on a distro, check the compatibility of your software stack with different Linux flavors. For instance, Adobe Photoshop isn't natively supported on Linux, so be prepared for possible workarounds or stability issues.
Based on your background, I think either Fedora (KDE version) or Mint would work well for you. A stable distro is probably the way to go if you want to avoid dealing with too many surprises!

Honestly, just give a couple of distros a try! If you don’t find one to your liking, you can always switch. I went through several distros before I found Bazzite, which fits my needs perfectly.
