Are my CPU temps too high after upgrading my cooler?

I recently switched from a stock Intel cooler to a Thermaltake UX 150 ARGB Cooler, and I'm wondering if it's doing a good job with my i7-4790. Right now, my CPU temps are sitting at 45-55°C when idle, and they shoot up to 65-75°C while playing Fortnite, sometimes even hitting 80°C. Are these temps normal, or is it possible that I didn't install the cooler properly, like maybe not using enough thermal paste? By the way, I have an ASUS GTX 970 Strix, and it seems like the CPU is carrying the load at 80% usage while the GPU hangs around 30-40% and stays cool at 60°C. Could it mean the GPU is underperforming as it ages?

It's pretty common for those OEM coolers to run hot, so those numbers can be expected. The Thermaltake UX 150 isn't significantly better than the stock cooler, and that may explain why you're still seeing high temps.

Yeah, the UX 150 is pretty much a low-end option with some LEDs. If you’re looking for a decent upgrade, you might want to check out something like the Phantom Spirit for better cooling performance.

Thanks for the tip! I didn’t realize there was such a difference in cooler quality.
