I'm part of a medium-sized company that's thinking about implementing a backup chat system. The idea is that this would help during disaster recovery and be suitable for highly sensitive chats, especially since we prefer not to use Teams for discussions involving PCI compliance. I'd love to hear from others: do you have recommendations for a second chat software, or reasons why we shouldn't pursue this? By the way, we currently use Teams for communication with our clients and partners.

I definitely understand the concern about security. If your company needs to do PCI chats, the usual recommendation is to go for a self-hosted solution like Mattermost or Matrix/Element. They’re good for keeping everything under your own control, and work great for confidential conversations. Just make sure your infrastructure is set up right!

Going to check out Matrix/Element. Sounds like what we might need!
