How to Fix “Bad Shim Signature” Error When Installing Bazzite?

I'm trying to make the switch from Windows to Linux and chose Bazzite because a friend recommended it for gaming. However, I'm facing issues booting into the system. I get a message saying "bad shim signature" and "you need to load the kernel first." I'm on an ASUS laptop—what steps do I need to take to load the kernel and access the OS?

In addition to disabling Secure Boot, make sure you choose the UEFI entry when you boot from your installer USB. Also, check that the target drive is using a GPT partition table; some distros throw warnings if you don't have that setup correctly, though I'm not sure about Bazzite specifically.

First thing to try is turning off Secure Boot in your BIOS. This can often resolve the "bad shim signature" issue. You can always enable Secure Boot later if you want. Just reboot your laptop and get into the BIOS setup, and look for the Secure Boot option to disable it.
