I had a bit of a disaster yesterday when a soda bottle exploded in my backpack, and unfortunately, my iPad got soaked. I quickly dried it off, turned it off, and I noticed some liquid near the USB-C port. It's been resting next to a fan covered in tissue paper, and now I'm just waiting for the recommended 48 hours to pass. After that, I'm unsure about the best next steps. Should I turn it on to see if it works, or should I take it to a repair shop first? I've heard that repairing water damage can be really tough, and since my iPad Air is fairly new and expensive, I really want to avoid buying a replacement if possible. Any advice would be appreciated!

First, check to see if any soda got into the USB-C port; that's the main concern. If it’s dry, you're probably in the clear, but if you see liquid, it could be a problem. Make sure you follow Apple's cleaning guidelines and if you can, use isopropyl alcohol to gently rinse it out if there's any soda residue. Just set it out in front of a fan to dry afterwards. If the port seems okay, maybe just power it on after the 48 hours and see if it still works. Chances are, you might get lucky!
I think it probably did get some soda in there. I might try to find some isopropyl alcohol. Thanks!
