Hey everyone, my AMD 9800X3D just failed while using an ASRock B850 Pro RS Wifi motherboard. Luckily, it's under warranty, so I'm getting a replacement CPU shipped next week. I'm wondering if I should stick with the same motherboard or switch to a different brand, maybe something like an X670? I've heard some bad things about ASRock with the 9800X3D, and I want to make the right choice.

A lot of people suggest either RMAing your current motherboard or switching it out for one from a different brand. ASRock has had issues with the 9800X3D, so I'd be cautious. If your motherboard has a BIOS Flashback feature, you can update the BIOS without a CPU, which is a plus. Otherwise, I'd recommend getting a new motherboard. You can always RMA the ASRock later and sell it to someone who doesn’t have a 9800X3D, advising them to update the BIOS before using it.
I've seen a few cases where people updated the BIOS successfully, and their setups worked fine afterward. Did your CPU fail during regular use or just wouldn't boot? Sometimes it could be related to memory or RAM training issues.
It wouldn't boot at all; it got stuck at POST, and nothing was registering. I brought it into the local shop, and they confirmed my CPU was dead.
That sounds like a solid plan! I'd be worried about using the same motherboard if there's a risk it could fail again.
