Can’t Access BIOS After Installing Linux – Any Fixes?

I have an Acer B311-31 Spin that was originally running Windows 11 with a Celeron N4020 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB eMMC storage. I recently decided to try Debian Linux with LXQT environment, and I initially turned off secure boot. Now, however, I can't access the BIOS anymore; every time I try, it results in a black screen. The laptop boots fine otherwise, but I'm stuck. I had a BIOS password set, which might be relevant. I'm really worried because this laptop was a gift, and I don't want to mess things up with Linux again. Any help would be appreciated!

Seems like a hassle! First off, if Windows is completely wiped, that could explain some issues accessing BIOS. Have you tried resetting the BIOS by removing the battery from the laptop for a few minutes? That could help clear any settings that are blocking access. Also, ensure that the power cable is plugged in while doing this. Let me know if that works!

Definitely give that a shot! Sometimes BIOS can get a bit finicky after changes like this, so a reset might just do the trick.

You might also want to check if there are any firmware updates for your laptop's BIOS available from Acer's official site. Sometimes, bugs like this get fixed with updates, so it's worth a look. But keep in mind, be careful with BIOS updates as they can sometimes lead to their own problems if not done correctly.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll check Acer's site and see what I can find. Fingers crossed!
