Hey everyone! I'm planning to switch from Windows 10 to Ubuntu on my 220GB drive. This is my first time ever changing operating systems. I'll be doing a clean install, completely replacing Windows. I have 8GB of RAM and I'm mainly using my PC for indie games on Steam like Terraria and Hollow Knight, as well as other general tasks. I'm looking for advice on whether my hardware is sufficient for Ubuntu and what the safest way to make this transition is for a beginner. Are there any important tips I should keep in mind before I dive in? Thanks!

A good option is to dual boot at first; that way, you can test out Ubuntu without losing your Windows setup immediately. Kubuntu is also a user-friendly choice since it resembles Windows quite a bit.
Definitely keep a Windows installer USB handy just in case you want to revert to Windows later. Use the official Microsoft Media Creation Tool to make it.
First things first, make sure to backup all your important files like docs, images, and game saves. Sometimes things can go south unexpectedly, and having your data saved on a USB drive will ease the anxiety of the switch.
After you create a USB with the Ubuntu ISO, boot into the live environment but don’t rush into installing right away. Test your hardware first to ensure everything works. Just a heads up, the live environment may run a bit slower than the installed version.
Ubuntu will work fine for you, especially the LTS (Long Term Support) version. Just remember—the very first step is to back up your data!
