I'm exploring opportunities as a Senior DevOps engineer after gaining 5 years of experience with a startup in California. Previously, I was earning around $50 per hour as a direct contractor, but now I'm only receiving offers from outsourcing companies ranging from $4,000 to $6,000 a month or even lower. Is this realistic for 2026, or should I be looking elsewhere for better compensation?

When it comes to a good salary, it really depends on what you consider valuable for your work! But generally, 5k per month appears to be a common benchmark for experienced Senior DevOps engineers in LATAM these days. Just keep in mind that salaries can vary based on specific skills and the company you work for.
I'm actually making around $8k a month, not counting my shares. It’s definitely on the higher end of the scale, but I landed the position directly instead of going through an outsourcing company. Might be worth seeking direct contracts if you can!
