I'm trying to figure out the best cable to use for my 1440p 500Hz monitor, which has one HDMI 2.1 port and one DisplayPort (DP) 1.4 port. My GPU has an HDMI 2.1 port and three DP 2.1 ports. I want to get as close to 500fps as possible but I'm not entirely sure about the differences between these cables and which one would give me the best performance. Any advice?

Make sure you check if your monitor truly supports DP 1.4; it might not reach 1440p at 500Hz. Your GPU's capabilities will also play a role. Basically, because you're limited to DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1, I would recommend using the HDMI for the best performance given your setup.
It's not just about the cable; it depends on what your monitor can handle. Check the manual to see what works best for 500Hz. Generally, DisplayPort 2.1 would be ideal, but since your monitor only has DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1, HDMI 2.1 should give you better results because it has higher bandwidth. Just ensure you're using a quality HDMI cable!
Just a heads up: DisplayPort 1.4 won't let you reach 500Hz at 1440p. So if your monitor only supports DP 1.4, you're going to be capped there. In your case, HDMI 2.1 will likely offer better results overall due to its higher bandwidth capabilities.
For your setup, definitely go for the HDMI 2.1 cable. It supports higher refresh rates more efficiently, and since your monitor only has HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4, you're looking at a max of 480Hz with HDMI using DSC. So, stick with HDMI to maximize your performance!
