Why is my CPU showing 100°C when it doesn’t feel hot?

I've been having some crazy temperature readings with my Corsair H100i. My iCUE software shows my CPU temperature around 80°C when idle, and it jumps up to 100°C during gaming or even browsing, but the fans blowing out of my PC are cool and there's no unusual smell. The CPU load is pretty low, not even close to half while gaming. I restarted the computer, and the temperature dropped to a more normal range (around 40-50°C), but then it spiked again after a few seconds. I've also checked with HWinfo, and it confirms the 100°C reading. Can anyone help me understand what's going on?

Have you considered trying to use a different sensor for reading your CPU's temperature? If you're getting unusual readings across the board, it might be worth updating your motherboard’s BIOS. Sometimes an update can resolve glitches related to temperature readings, which could be affecting your setup.

I haven't updated the BIOS yet... I'm a bit scared to do it because I'm worried about breaking something.

It sounds like the issue might be that the heat isn't dissipating correctly from the CPU. Check if your AIO cooler is seated properly on the CPU and make sure any protective film is removed from the cooler block. Sometimes the simplest things can cause these weird temperature readings!
