I'm looking to build a gaming PC with a budget of around €1100, as I need to save a bit for a monitor too. So far, my build includes a GIGABYTE B550 Gaming X V2, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, a 1TB Western Digital WD Blue SN5100 NVMe SSD, 16GB Kingston FURY Beast Dual-Kit DDR4-3200, a be quiet! System Power 11 ATX 3.1 750W PSU, and an Endorfy Spartan 5 Max ARGB cooler along with an Endorfy Ventum 200 Air case. For the graphics card, I'm deciding between the Radeon RX 9060 XT with 16GB of GDDR6 and the AMD RADEON RX 7700XT with 12GB. I'm curious if 12GB will be sufficient and if there are any changes you would recommend for my build.

It depends on the games you plan to play. While 12GB might limit you if you go for max settings in some titles, generally you'd want a more powerful GPU for those cases anyway, so it's not really a dealbreaker. Between the two cards, the 7700XT usually outperforms the RX 9060 XT in everyday gaming scenarios.

It really depends on the game! For something like Counter-Strike, sure, 12GB is enough. But for more demanding titles, it might be a different story.

12GB is likely to be plenty in 2026, even for 1440p gaming on demanding titles. Just remember that as time passes, game requirements can change, so keep an eye on upcoming releases too!

Exactly! But honestly, most people won’t even notice the downgrade from 'ultra' to 'high' settings for most textures.

True! I play at 1440p as well, and the only time I hit a VRAM limit is in VR games, which are more resource-heavy.

I've been using a 5600X with a 6750XT (12GB) since mid-2023 for 1440p, and it's handled everything well. I suggest going for the 9060XT since it supports the newer FSR versions.

For your setup, 12GB should work well especially with the Ryzen 5800X and a 1080p screen. You're good to go!

Honestly, I'm running a 3070 with 8GB and I'm getting solid performance in 1440p games on high settings. 12GB should definitely be enough!

I'd go with the 9060XT 16GB, but yes, 12GB is fine overall!
