Should I Focus on Java or Continue with C# for My Programming Projects?

I've been teaching myself programming for some time now and I'm really enjoying it! I decided to return to college to earn my bachelor's degree and pursue a career in this field. Currently, I'm learning C#, but my program will primarily cover Java, which I won't start for about a year because I need to complete my general education classes first. Given this situation, I'm wondering if I should switch to Java for my personal projects or if I can continue with C# without struggling when I finally start learning Java. Should I stick with one language or try to learn both?

C# and Java share many similarities, so you don't need to stress too much about switching. I'd say continue with C# for now since you already have some momentum. You'll find picking up Java later will be pretty straightforward! Good luck with your studies!

Honestly, you'll be fine. C# is like Microsoft's version of Java, and they share many concepts. The only challenge might be the syntax switching. Just make sure you spend enough time on one to get fluent, and you'll be able to transition later without a hitch.

Definitely keep going with C#. When you start Java classes, you'll see that you can pick it up without too much difficulty. Don't worry too much about switching between the two.

You've already got a leg up by learning C# on your own! Just use whatever you like better for projects. Both languages will be useful for your school work, and understanding one will definitely help with the other.

I agree! Stick with C# for your personal projects. The two languages are quite similar, so when you start learning Java, it should come to you quickly. Just focus on solidifying your skills in one language first.
