I recently upgraded from a 1070 to a 5070 Ti, but I'm having serious issues. I have an i9 10900KF on a Z490 Aorus Pro AX board, and I'm not even able to get a driver installed before it starts crashing. The crashes happen even in the BIOS, which has me worried about a potential hardware failure. I replaced my old Thermaltake 850W PSU with a newer Sewsonic KW platinum, thinking it might help, but I'm still experiencing black screens and crashes both in BIOS and Windows. Could this be a hardware problem or an incompatibility with my motherboard?

It doesn’t seem like an incompatibility issue. However, it could definitely be a hardware problem. Have you checked the PCIe settings in your BIOS? Changing the PCIe lane setting might help. Once you can boot without crashing in the BIOS, keep an eye on the drivers; sometimes, old drivers can create issues, especially after shifting from one GPU to another. Using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) followed by a fresh driver install might be good if the crashing only happens in Windows. But if it continues in the BIOS too, that sounds like a defective card.
Since the 5070 Ti uses PCIe 5.0 and your motherboard doesn’t fully support that, it might be worth setting your PCIe lane to "Gen 4" in the BIOS. This has resolved black screen problems for a lot of users with the 50 series. Also, check that you're using the PSU cable that came with the unit instead of an adapter.
I’ve tried both the PCIe settings, but my system crashed again after just a few minutes. Guess I’ll have to head back to MicroCenter for the third time! It's getting frustrating!
