Is My $65 Computer Build Worth It?

I recently picked up a free Dell Optiplex 9020, but it was missing RAM and the HDD. I spent a total of $65 on refurbished components: a PNY GTX 970 graphics card, 16GB of Team Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1333MHz RAM, and two 256GB Kingston SATA SSDs. I'm using a 650-watt EVGA SUPERNOVA power supply that I already had. I built this computer for my little sister since she's never had a PC before. The 9020 has an Intel i7-4790 (just the standard version) and seems to run pretty well with good temperatures on Windows 10. Any advice on whether this setup is usable or if I should do anything different?

Yeah, I’d say it’s definitely a good deal! Like others said, for $65, it’s a great find. Consider using Rufus to install Windows 11; it’ll help with keeping everything secure. Overall, you did a fantastic job putting it together!

Sounds like a solid setup for the price! Usable is definitely the right word. You should be able to play older games and indie titles just fine.

Absolutely! For just $65, you’ve got a nice little rig. It might struggle with the latest AAA games, but there’s plenty it can handle. I’d recommend looking into upgrading to Windows 11 for better support and security updates. There are guides online on how to do that easily!
