Is an RTX 5060 suitable for playing single-player RPGs?

I'm considering upgrading my dad's PC, which already has 16GB of RAM and an Intel i5 11th gen CPU. I've been looking into getting an RTX 5060 for single-player RPGs like Elden Ring, Final Fantasy XVI, Baldur's Gate 3, and Overwatch. However, I've seen a lot of negative feedback about the 5060, with some saying that the 5060 Ti 16GB version is only just acceptable. I'm not after crazy frame rates or high graphics settings—just a smooth experience on medium settings would be great. Any advice would be really appreciated!

With your older CPU setup, going for an AMD card like the 9060 XT could give you better performance thanks to its additional PCI lanes and lower CPU overhead. It's something to consider for squeezing out more efficiency!

If you're aiming for better performance, consider that the 5060 Ti with 16GB is a bit weaker compared to a 3080. If your power supply can handle it, you might find a used 3080 for a similar price. Otherwise, look for a new 4070 Super or 5070 for a more solid performance. For those on a tight budget, the 9060 XT 16GB could be a cheaper option that performs a bit better.

Good call on checking used options; I wouldn’t mind saving some cash!

Hey! The RTX 5000 series should handle the games you want just fine. Just keep in mind your resolution—1080p is definitely doable. Your 16GB of RAM might be on the edge for some titles but should be okay for a smooth experience overall.

Just a heads up, Final Fantasy XVI can be pretty demanding on VRAM, which might not provide the best experience on the 5060. The other games should run okay, though.
